Organised excursions can
be arranged to many of the regions world famous sites of interest including:
Pompeii -
The excellent preserved roman city, destroyed in 79AD by the eruption of mount Vesuvius.
No visit to the region would be complete without a day spent exploring the houses, baths,
gladiators barracks, the forum and theatre buildings of Pompeii;
Mount Vesuvius - Still
an active volcano that last erupted in 1943, today the volcano attracts many visitors;
Herculaneum - Destroyed at the same time as Pompeii in 79AD, the excellent preserved
buildings have been gradually uncovered over the last hundred years: excavations on still
ongoing. Many of the building provide a fascinating insight in life in roman times;
Paestum - Founded by the Greeks in 600BC the town was eventually taken over by the
Romans. The rising water level led to the settlement being abandoned and rediscovered in
the 18th centaury. The site boasts the best-preserved examples of Greek temples.
Salerno- A busy city with excellent shops in the new and old part of the city and having
high-speed train links to Naples and Rome together with regular boat trips to towns along
the Amalf coast. Famous for its Norman Duomo.
Capri - Famous for its Blue Grotto the island is now an essential part of any visit to the Amalf coast.
Ischia - The smaller island in the bay of Naples and famous for its hot springs the island attracts an
increasing amount of visitors each year.
The Amalf Coast - A coastline of outstand beauty and with an array of outstanding fishing villages inclusing Positano with its narrow
stepped streets rising from the sea, Amalfi with its Duomo di Sant’ Andrea, Ravello
a mountain top town with two highlights : Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. Further along
the coast lies the towns of Maiori, Minori and Cetera whish are popular seaside resorts
with long histories dating back to the Amalfi maritime republic. And finally Vietri
famous for its locally produced ceramics.
Naples - A city fully of history and places of interest including: the royal Place with its Biblioteca Natzionale with over 2million
books; Castel Nuovo and the Castel dell’ Ovo; the Duomo containing the relics of
San Gennaro the patron saint of Naples; the National Archologiocal museum with many
relics from the excavations at Pompeii; the park and museum of Capodimonte.
The Royal Palace of Caserta - modelled on Versailles in France the palace was the home of the
bourbon kings of Naples Charges for any excursion are available on request and payable
locally. Visits can also be arranged to the local wine producing area that boasts such
